Ice Arena

The Tbilisi Ice Arena is Georgia’s first world-class indoor ice facility, marking a major milestone in the development of winter sports infrastructure in the country. Located in the capital and completed in late 2024 by the Municipal Development Fund, the arena was built in preparation for Georgia’s hosting of the 2025 European Youth Winter Festival, with events scheduled to take place in Tbilisi, Bakuriani, and Batumi.
The arena features a 60-by-30-meter ice rink and seating for up to 700 spectators, along with modern amenities that meet international standards. These include training and choreography rooms, locker rooms, rest and medical areas, makeup and conference rooms, and a panoramic-view café overlooking the rink. The venue is fully accessible for individuals with disabilities and includes ample parking space for visitors.
Equipped with an advanced cooling and climate control system, the facility ensures optimal ice quality while maintaining a comfortable environment for athletes and guests. Two electronic scoreboards, high-performance lighting, and ice resurfacing machines keep the arena ready for high-level competition. Thanks to its specialized insulated flooring, the rink can be converted to host non-ice sports like basketball, futsal, and handball during the off-season.
The Tbilisi Ice Arena supports a variety of winter sports, including ice hockey, figure skating, and curling, and stands as a symbol of the country’s growing presence in the world of winter athletics. Designed and equipped by a Czech company, the GEL 29.2 million project was funded through the state budget and officially inaugurated by Georgia’s Prime Minister and leading city officials.
