Opened in 2015 for the European Youth Summer Olympic Festival, the Olympic Palace is one of the most modern and versatile indoor sports complexes in Tbilisi. Located in the Saburtalo district, this state-of-the-art venue has played a key role in developing Georgia’s sports infrastructure and establishing the capital as a host city for major international competitions.
The complex features two main halls, with the Grand Hall seating up to 3,600 spectators and a smaller hall accommodating around 800. Designed to host a wide range of indoor sports—such as basketball, handball, volleyball, judo, wrestling, fencing, and futsal—the facility meets international standards and is equipped with the latest technologies. Additional amenities include VIP lounges, conference and media rooms, a café, and parking space for over 250 cars.
In 2022, the Olympic Palace expanded with the addition of a 10,000-seat basketball arena, which is directly connected to the original building via an underground tunnel. This new facility hosted Group A matches of EuroBasket 2022, marking a major milestone in Georgia’s sports history.
Beyond sports, the Olympic Palace also serves as a venue for large-scale cultural events. In 2017, it was chosen to host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, and it is expected to do so again in 2025. The complex has also welcomed major events like the Judo Grand Prix, UEFA Futsal qualifiers, and the Men’s Youth World Handball Championship.
Modern, multifunctional, and centrally located, the Olympic Palace is a dynamic symbol of Georgia’s commitment to international sport and cultural exchange.
