Nestled in the heart of Batumi, 6 May Park is one of the city's oldest and one of the oldest public parks in Georgia. Construction of the park began in 1881 when the Prussian gardener Resler was engaged to design a garden. Resler died in 1884, and the work was suspended for a year. From 1885, French gardener Mikhail Dalfons was invited to lead the construction of the city garden and the already started boulevard. In 1888, the Russian Emperor Alexander III visited and planted Magnolia. To honor this event, the park was named “Alexander Garden”.
The park offers a peaceful retreat from the urban hustle, making it a popular destination for both locals and visitors. Located along Batumi Boulevard and close to the Black Sea, the park’s beautiful landscapes and tranquil atmosphere make it a perfect place for leisurely walks, picnics, or just enjoying nature.
The park is home to lush greenery, towering trees, and well-maintained flowerbeds, providing a picturesque setting for outdoor activities. Notable feature of 6 May Park is the Lake in its center, surrounded by pathways and benches, perfect for a relaxing stroll or sitting and watching the ducks and swans. The park's large open spaces also make it an ideal spot for jogging, cycling, or simply unwinding with a good book.
Whether you are looking to take a peaceful walk or just enjoy the beauty of Batumi’s natural surroundings, 6 May Park is a charming escape. Its central location, combined with the serene ambiance, makes it a must-visit spot for anyone seeking a bit of tranquility in the heart of the city.
